The Dunlark Crossing — Printable Detective Case

A routine island delivery returns with a murder to explain.

A nursery cart comes back from Dunlark Field Station carrying the director’s body. Four people were in the island yard. Their tickets, work papers and memories describe the same afternoon in ways that need careful comparison.

Make your case

Trace the journeys and check each account against the paperwork. Transport records, interviews, correspondence and physical evidence build a case you can solve alone or work through with others, one document at a time.

Case 002 in Rookmere Case Files is a complete, standalone mystery. You can start here without playing an earlier case. The task is to support your conclusion with evidence, not simply pick a suspect.

Four PDFs, one complete investigation

The player file brings together the briefing, 22 evidence documents and a Case Questions sheet. Three graduated hints and a reasoned solution are kept in separate files. Print just one size: 31 pages including help and answers.

How to play

1. Read the briefing, then spread out or arrange the evidence.
2. Cross-check the documents and write answers to the Case Questions.
3. Open the separate hints if needed, then compare your reasoning with the solution.

For your next mystery evening

For 1 or more adult players, with an estimated playing time of 60–90 minutes. That is a planning estimate based on reading and comparison, not a timed playtest. Bring paper and a pencil; spare paper and a calculator are optional. No host, acting, cutting or outside research is required.

Print and play

Choose Letter or A4 and print at actual size, preferably one-sided for comparing documents. Grayscale printing works. You can also read the static PDFs on screen and keep notes separately; they are not fillable forms. The main surprise belongs to the first solve.

Digital download only; no physical case box, documents or props are shipped. Written in US English. All characters and events are fictional. Content includes murder, workplace mistreatment and career loss, without graphic imagery. For personal, noncommercial play; do not redistribute or resell the files.
