Cocoa Check is a two-panel checkerboard book sleeve with an integral solid fold-over flap. This English PDF guide explains the colour chart, written row keys, measured-fit calculations and three-seam assembly.
Before you buy: You will need to swatch, measure and trial-fit the sleeve around your actual book.
Quick buying guide
- Product: One checkerboard book sleeve design; one front plus one back continuing into a flap. No fixed size range or named-device fit.
- Files: One private ZIP containing a 20-page illustrated PDF, a separate 3-page reference PDF and START_HERE.txt. The reference repeats pages 18–20 of the full guide; it is not another pattern or extra unique content.
- Language: English, US crochet terms. Edition 1.0.1. The saved X/Y working-order keys are right-handed; left-handed working order must be mirrored as explained in the guide.
- Skills and materials: Chain, single crochet, turning rows, two-colour carried-yarn work and sewn assembly. Supply two compatible smooth DK yarns, a suitable hook (3.0 mm is a starting choice), tape/ruler, markers, yarn needle, scissors, actual book and basting thread.
- Compatibility and exclusions: PDF reader and ZIP extractor required. Written instructions and diagrams; no video, yarn, tools, book or finished item. No button, zipper, tie, lining, retaining band or bookmark.
- Delivery and support: Digital files only, no physical shipping. Extract the ZIP and open the main Pattern_EN PDF first.
What the guide covers
Separate checker and solid-flap gauge, horizontal and bottom wrap measurements, whole-check rounding, chart direction, colour changes, both panels, outside-view seam matching, a loaded flap-route check and a project worksheet. The saved 44-stitch front has 72 checker rows; the back continues for 24 solid rows, making 96 total. These are assumed-input examples, not guaranteed dimensions.
Carry one inactive strand through every stitch, including the solid flap. Trial-seam around the real book before finishing. The unsecured flap can lift; the sleeve is not a locking, waterproof, impact-resistant or archival case. Check colourfastness, remove the book before washing and follow your yarn's care instructions. No fixed yarn gram amount is promised.
